American History Through Everyday Objects

Laurel Thatcher Ulrich was a professor in the UNH history department for many years and she won the Pulitzer Prize in 1991 for her book "A Midwife's Tale." She still lives in Durham. In her new book, "The Age of Homespun," Ulrich chronicles the history of early America through everyday objects- spinning wheels, Indian baskets, a linen tablecloth. She demonstrates how everyday objects reveal larger econimic and social structures.
