The Education of Laura Bridgman

Ernest Freeburg is a professor of humanities at Colby Sawyer College in New London. His new book is "The Education of Laura Bridgman" (Harvard University Press). Laura Bridgman was deaf and blind from the age of 2, and became a celebrity when she as taught to communicate with language by Dr. Samuel Howe. Freeburg explores not only Bridgman's own story, but the public debate that developed around her.
