Retired Mill Workers Lose Health InsuranceBy David Darman on Monday, September 10, 2001.About seven hundred retired workers from the pulp and paper mills in northern New Hampshire suddenly lost health and life insurance coverage late last month. The coverage had been provided by Crown Vantage, which formerly owned the plants. Mills' Parent Company Goes BustBy Trish Anderton on Monday, September 10, 2001.North Country officials are reacting to news today that the parent company of two mills in Berlin and Gorham has declared bankruptcy. American tissue filed for Chapter Eleven bankruptcy in Delaware. The two mills have stood idle for nearly a month, and the company owes several million dollars in back taxes.
