In 1940, he was a 16-year-old in Belgium when the Nazis invaded. He was separated from his family and left to his own devices, he made his way through France, and ultimately to Britain. It was 5 years before he saw his family again. He chonicles the time in his memoir, "Last Boat from Bordeaux." |
