5th Graders Cover the Battle of Yorktown

A group of fourth and fifth graders at Walker Elementary School in Concord will kick off the 4th of July in grand public radio style. With a little help from their teacher, Paul Bourassa -- and NHPR -- they produced a news report as if they were on the scene after the Battle of Yorktown in 1781.

From a Childhood in China to a Life in Ministry

Chandler Gilbert was born in China, where his parents were missionaries. To this day, he goes by the nickname "Tuck"- the name of the riverboat where he was born. He's spent his adult life in the US as a minister, but he says his outlook on life is a result of his early years overseas. He has written a book of essays titled "When I Open My Window".

Superfund Slowdown Raises Merrimack Site Questions

The town of Merrimack is home to a 13-acre plot of land that is considered to be one of the most contaminated spots in New Hampshire. Town leaders are hoping for federal superfund money to restore the site. But those hopes are fading as funds for the program shrink. NHPR?s Dan Gorenstein reports.

Bad Air? Free Bus!

Bus systems throughout New Hampshire will offer free rides this summer on days when the air quality is poor. The Ride Free, Breathe Free program debuted last year. Cathy Brockett of the Department of Environmental Services told NHPR?s Trish Anderton commuters should look at their local buses to see whether the rides are available.
