Laura talks with John Gianforti about the upcoming Perseid meteor shower, recent discoveries of galaxies similar to our own, and how the new and improved Hubble Telescope lens is adding to our knowledge of "the final frontier". John Gianforti teaches Astronomy at the College for Lifelong Learning www.cll.edu and is an avid amateur astronomer.

A Journey Through Inner and Outer Landscapes

Terry Osborne teaches English and Environmental Studies at Dartmouth College. His book "Sightlines" is published by the University Press of New England. It combines his explorations of the Upper Valley, where he's lived for 12 years, and his struggle with chronic depression. He talks about both subjects and the relationship between these "inner" and "outer" landscapes. This interview was originally broadcast in June of 2001.

Smith, Sununu Clash in First Encounter

U.S. Senate candidates Bob Smith and John Sununu took each other on publicly for the first time last night. Smith is running for his third term; fellow republican john sununu has taken the unusual step of leaving Congress to try to defeat him. Smith and Sununu appeared at a forum held by the Seacoast Federation of Republican Women. NHPR?s Trish Anderton reports.
