Capturing the Landscape

By John Walters on Tuesday, August 10, 2004.

Artist Clifford Smith has been painting almost his entire life. As a child, he worked to depict his favorite sports figures. As an adult, he's highly regarded as a fine landscape painter. Now he's helping other artists learn how to capture the landscape in a way that "parallels nature rather than imitates it." Clifford and four of his students are currently displaying their work at the Anderson-Soule Gallery in Concord. We'll talk with all five artists to find out what they think of their own paintings.
