Choral and Symphony

By Shay Zeller on Wednesday, May 3, 2006.

This weekend, the New Hampshire Master Chorale will present music from Finland. We'll talk with the group's music director, Dan Perkins, about the roots of Finnish music, and we'll get to know its composers, from Jean Sebelius to the more contemporary Jaakko Mäntyjärvi.

The New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra also performs this weekend. Their program includes Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. We'll talk with NHSO's Maestro Ken Kiesler about the piece's history and the challenges it poses for modern conductors.
