ArchivesA Kinder, Gentler Super BowlBy Abby Goldstein on Friday, February 2, 2007.For thirteen years, NPR's weekly show Only a Game has previewed the Super Bowl with a collection of Haikus that seeks to merge the delicacy of Japan's simplest form of poetry with America's brawniest head-crunching and money-laden field battle. Bill Littlefield, the host of Only A Game, joins us to talk about the tradition; we'll hear some winning works from the past, and Bill will read some of his own works of art. And yes, there'll be some discussion of the Sunday game as well. |
