A New Way to Get Into a State University

New Hampshire's University and Community College Systems are working together to graduate more students from the state's universities. They've created the Connections Program.

Chuck Annal is Vice Chancellor of the Community College System. He describes the new program to NHPR's Mark Bevis.

They Were Built, But No One's Coming

They built the stadium and the money was supposed to come. Housing and commercial development around Manchester's MerchantsAuto.com stadium was going to help pay for the field.

But that was before the housing market tanked. Now the taxpayers of Manchester may have to make up for a shortfall in anticipated revenues.

NHPR correspondent Ellen Grimm reports.

Retirees Fear Changes to Pension System

New Hampshire’s pension system for public employees is in trouble.

There’s a 2.7 billion dollar gap between how much money the system has and how much it needs to have over the next 30 years.

Currently, it’s ranked near the bottom of public pension systems nationwide.

Lawmakers, employers and employees are debating the best way to shore the whole thing up.

New Hampshire Public Radio’s Dan Gorenstein has the story on how proposed legislation could affect the people who count on the pension system.
