Not Everyone In Brattleboro Mourns the Loss of Home Depot

The hardware retailer Home Depot recently announced some bad news.

The company said the housing slump has driven down profits 24 percent and force it do something it has never done before - close some stores.

The Home Depot in Brattleboro, Vermont is one of 15 that will shut down.

As The Vermont Standard's Kevin Forrest reports, some residents are happy to see it go.

Remember the Homeless Vets

On Memorial Day, America has set aside a day to remember the men and women who died fighting its wars.

A group in Manchester hopes Americans will remember those vets who are fighting homelessness.

Writers on a New England Stage: Barbara Walters

She's been called the "first lady of American journalism," known for her talent as a news anchor and for her historic interviews of leading newsmakers. In her new memoir, Audition, Barbara Walters shares her own story, reflecting on her professional and personal lives and sharing both the challenges and successes she's had in a life in the news. She came to The Music Hall in Portsmouth to talk with NHPR's Laura Knoy as part of the Writers on a New England Stage series, but the event was shortened when some audience members in the balcony said they felt the floor shift.
