Stefan Koppelkamm, Ortszeit/Local Time, organized by the Department of German
Studies and the Department of Studio Art, Dartmouth College
Between the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and Germany's reunification in October
1990, Stefan Koppelkamm, then a professional photographer from West Germany, traveled around East Germany to capture what he thought would soondisappear.Ten years later he re-shot each location from exactly the same vantage point to capture the changes, and his lyrical then-and-now pairings reflect his ambivalent attitude to Germany's transformations.
