In Praise of Slowness
By Laura Knoy on Tuesday, December 20, 2005.
Amid this week’s holiday bustle of parties and presents, a new book decries our modern “cult of speed†that leads to more stress, more illness and a more superficial skim-thru-it-kind of existence. It urges a society-wide shift into a lower gear and describes a few communities where a “slow revolution†is already underway. Laura's guest is Carl Honore, a Canadian journalist based in London who has written for the Economist, Houston Chronicle, Miami Herald, and the National Post. His latest book is "In Praise of Slowness: Challenging the Cult of Speed". Web resources:

Fast fast fast and DIE!
Most people are in such a rush, day in and day out...before you know it you are dead! As a VERY active person I can say that even I surprise people all the time when I: get up a little earlier to take my time to work, go for a ski (for all of 5miles), but I take 1/2 a day to do it, watching snow for hours, reading books for hours more, and just taking time to ENJOY the life I have. This doesnt mean doing everything all at once...this means enjoying what you have available to you.
