On Golden Pond at 25

It's the story of an aging couple, their summer lake home and a daughter who tries to close the gap between herself and her father. The movie "On Golden Pond", adapted from an Ernest Thompson screenplay, turns 25 this year and has become an indelible hit. Its popularity is due in part because of an all-star cast including Katherine Hepburn and the real life father-daughter team of Henry and Jane Fonda, in part because of a touching and relatable story-line and in part because of its idyllic setting of Squam Lake, New Hampshire. Twenty-five years later we look back at "On Golden Pond", the film, the stories of the people who were there during filming and why it has stood the test of time. John Clayton hosts. His guests are Garen Daly, a New Hampshire based movie reviewer, critic and Artistic Director for the Peterborough Community Theatre in Peterborough, New Hampshire and Ernest Thompson, Playwright and Screenwriter of On Golden Pond. We'll also be joined by Marty Leighton, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Film and Television Bureau from 1980-1983, who helped secure Squam Lake for the producers of On Golden Pond, Peter Francesco, a life long resident of Squam Lake and the town of Holderness, and Matthew Newton, Film Specialist and Manager of the New Hampshire Film and Television office.
