Musician Kelly Joe Phelps

Kelly Joe Phelps is one of the country's premier slide guitar players. He wows audiences and critics alike with his fast but nuanced finger-work and thoughtful, narrative lyrics. He stopped by the Front Porch studio late last year to play some tunes and talk about his new album.

Kelly Joe Phelps is a turning point in American music. He brings strands of the traditions of folk, blues and jazz into a literary regard. His music to date is like listening to the future, past and present at once. We are very fortunate to have this gentle man among us.
