John McCain is a decorated war veteran and longtime politician, having served two terms in the U.S. House and currently in his fourth term in the U.S. Senate. He's been out front on campaign finance, on immigration and as a strong supporter of staying the course in Iraq. He announced his candidacy for the 2008 Presidential campaign in New Hampshire in April. We'll talk with him about his views on a variety of topics, including immigration and foreign policy and get some personal background on the Senior Senator from the Grand Canyon State.

Prior to Senator McCain's

Prior to Senator McCain's appearance on your program I wish to have you ask him (or reference my email) this question:

Two weeks following President Bush's win in Nov. 2004 you criticized his lack of attention to the seriousness of climate change. Given that you seem to have a strong commitment to addressing the human causes of climate change yourself, do you think that that commitment registers positively with Republican voters, and if not, why not? Why do you think it is perceived that only Democrats are interested in seriously addressing the problems of climate change?

The United States military

The United States military is the most powerful and well funded military on earth. In light of our failure to make any significant headway in Iraq, what makes you think the "government" and "military" of Iraq has any chance of success? Especially considering this new government is rife with ethnic/religious division and corruption. The last thing our country and the world needs is another American president who is stubborn, biased, angry, and devoid of critical thinking skills.

Since everything we have

Since everything we have heard from our leaders, including McCain, about the war in Iraq so far has been wrong, from the "WMD" to "Mission Accomplished" to "the Surge," we should take heart that they now tell us that withdrawing from Iraq will be a disaster, I'm sure they will be wrong about that too.

In particular, think about the two things our leaders keep repeating to us - that the Iraqi Government must "do something" and that we must "train the Iraqi Army". It is patently obvious that the Iraqi Government is incapable of doing anything other than collecting it's own paycheck. Even if they wanted to, the notion that they could do ANYTHING against the armed insurgents is pure fantasy. The other fantasy is that we need to "Train the Iraqi's". What exactly are we supposed to train them to do - occupy their own country? They certainly don't need any training with weapons or explosives, they are doing just fine on their own.

We have a couple hundred thousand soldiers there trying to control a vast country of millions - the dream that this could work and the hope that this would benefit anybody but military contractors and oil companies was preposterous to begin with. It has been an obvious and proven failure for 4 years now.

War is not a solution, and neither is MORE war. Our army in Iraq is inflaming the region. We need to bring home our troops. Our leaders need to face reality and focus their attention to the problems within our borders, not the problems of the Mideast.

Dear Senator McCain, I would

Dear Senator McCain, I would like to see one of the republican Candidates get behind the technology that already exists and is on the market in part as noted by the ad in Feb Popular Science 2008. This technology will double miliage to exsisting vehicles, and with the second stage promises to improve miliage to as much as 100 mpg. It also drastically cuts emissions. This technology would help this nations economy, and get us oil independent. We will still need oil and gas, just far less then what we need now, not to to mention the reduction in carbon emmissions. This is worth your time Senator, and is worth my time as well as other voters to get behind a candidate that is for getting this techology to the consumers. Please take the time and check it out.
