It's never been easy to make it big in the music industry, and that certainly holds true today. Artists often complain about the stranglehold that a few large corporations have over the entire pop music landscape. Plus, internet technology is making it easier and easier for fans to get their music for free, often illegally. On the other hand, though, that same technology is helping unknown acts get free publicity through MP3 blogs and sites like MySpace.
