China Coverage
By Brady Carlson on Thursday, May 22, 2008.
This morning China concluded three official days of mourning for those killed in the May 12 earthquake. Officials also announced the death toll had risen above 50,000. We've put together some resources to keep up with this continuing story. NPR.org has a page of full coverage about the earthquake, which includes its latest stories and multimedia features. You can also keep up with coverage through their earthquake RSS feed. All Things Considered hosts Robert Siegel and Melissa Block were in Chengdu with producers Andrea Hsu and Art Silverman, preparing for a week of special China coverage, when the quake struck. Their Chengdu Diary chronicles their own experiences and reports from the region. If you missed it on Monday, check out The Exchange's roundtable of Granite Staters reacting to the earthquake, as Laura Knoy talks with a number of New Hampshire residents who have been directly affected by a tragedy half a world away. Finally, Global Voices: China has a number of stories from the earthquake, some inspiring and some heart-wrenching. If you have links to more coverage, feel free to share them in the comments field below, or share your own experience on this or any topic through the Public Insight Network. |
