Writers On A New England Stage: Richard Russo
By Laura Knoy on Thursday, July 10, 2008.
Richard Russo won the Pulitzer Prize in 2002 for his novel Empire Falls, which the Christian Science Monitor described as "[possibly] the last great novel of the 20th Century." Russo was on hand at The Music Hall in Portsmouth to talk about his new novel, Bridge of Sighs, for the latest installment of Writers on a New England Stage.

Laura, Thank you so much for featuring Russo's presentation in Portsmouth. I also stayed up late and read the book while I was up in Pittsburg for the summer. Your program gave me the opportunity to hear the author read and talk about the book that is something I certainly appreciated being in the far north of our state. NHPR, through your program, gives us such wonderful experiences such as that to hear this author read and talk about his book. Thank you and NHPR for choosing to do this and provide those of us that couldn't attend the P'smith event an opportunity to experience the author's insight on this great current literature.
If not for you and NHPR - I and others could never further have experienced this very compelling book's insight from the author.
thank you,
