Pro-McCain Veterans Argue Obama Not Ready To Be Commander-in-Chief
By Josh Rogers on Wednesday, October 8, 2008.
A trio of Republican military veterans traveled the state on behalf of John McCain today to argue that Barack Obama isn't ready to be president. New Hampshire Public Radio's Josh Rogers has more. The trio came from Alabama, New York and Massachusetts, and included a retired Air Force colonel who was a prisoner of war with John McCain, and Gary Bernstein, a retired CIA man who led that agency's efforts in Afghanistan. Bernstein insisted that Barack Obama doesn't have the experience needed to lead the country. "Senator Obama is nowhere near qualified to serve as Commander in Chief while we're at war in two nations." Bernstein and the others were also quick to say that concern over the foreign policy credentials of McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, are misplaced. "Sarah Palin has the principles, and she's going to be working side by side with John McCain, just as George Herbert Walker Bush did with Ronald Reagan." The veterans' visits coincided with a local campaign swing by Michelle Obama, who stumped on behalf of her husband at Keene State College. For NHPR News, I'm Josh Rogers. Post a comment
