Muslim Youth and the Teaching of Islam

Islamic school in Saskatoon

The Muslim-American community has been scrutinized since the catastrophe of September 11. Although the number of Islamic schools has been on the rise in the U.S., many Americans feel uneasy about how Islamic education will influence Muslim youth.

Natalia Smolenski, one of NPR’s Next Generation Radio program, visits a school to see how Islamic education in the United States binds Muslim communities, and what they are doing to prepare the next generation of American Muslim leaders. You can listen to Natalia's story at the Public Radio Exchange.
