Lynch Nominates Conboy for Supreme Court
By Dan Gorenstein on Monday, June 1, 2009.
Governor John Lynch has made his pick to replace Justice Richard Galway on the state Supreme Court. New Hampshire Public Radio’s Dan Gorenstein has more. Governor Lynch says Superior Court Justice Carol Ann Conboy is well qualified to become the state’s newest Supreme Court Justice. TAPE: she’s very independent, she’s open minded and she has a very distinguished record on the bench. Lynch went on to say he believes Conboy would exercise restraint on the bench, recognizing that it is the Legislature that makes policy, not the Court. Conboy has served in the Superior Court since 1992. A long-time Merrimack County attorney praised her as a judge who takes time to thoroughly review cases and seeks consensus. The President of the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers was equally impressed and described her as someone who uses the law to wind up at the right answer. For NHPR News, I’m DG.
