Stimulus Rebate Encourages Energy Efficiency

The federal stimulus plan wants to help consumers buy energy efficient appliances. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) will provide New Hampshire with up to $1,262,000 to pay for rebates.

New Hampshire has to designate its own ENERGY STAR appliances which can include central air conditioners, heat pumps (air source and geothermal), boilers, furnaces (oil and gas), room air conditioners, clothes washers, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, and water heaters. These are the appliances which generally use the most energy.

New Hampshire also needs to designate the rebate awarded for each appliance. Its application is due August 31 at the Department of Energy (DOE). The DOE predicts that by November 31 it will award the majority of its funds.

The new program adds days to the year??

nov 31? I assumed public radio was more intelligent than standard programs and tv. Or is this a direct quote from the DOE? Which makes me wonder that the car dealers may have cause to doubt they will get their clunker money... I guess if they didn't look at their iphone or other device they don't know November only has 30 days.
