Black, White, and Cello

By Virginia Prescott on Thursday, July 30, 2009.

The summer road trip in black, white, and cello.

We're joined today by a pair of artists collaborating on a unique musical and visual project about family and memory. It’s called Block Ice and Propane. The show premiers this Saturday at the Moore Theatre Stage at Dartmouth College.

Cellist Erik Friedlander is a sought-after musician and composer in the jazz and new music scene. He has eight albums to his name, and has backed musicians from Laurie Anderson to Courtney Love to John Zorn. He joined us from the Dartmouth studios.

Bill Morrison also joins us from Dartmouth. He’s the director of dozens of films, including Decasia, a collage made of deteriorating film stock.

To find out more about Saturday's performance, visit Dartmouth's Hopkins Center for the Arts's website
