That's the title of a new book by Mitch Thomashow, chair of environmental studies at Antioch New England Graduate School. He says it can be difficult to conceive of something as huge as a planetary ecosystem. His idea: get to know your own backyard, your neighborhood. You can translate that awareness to the entire biosphere.
