While I look forward to reading every book by E L Doctorow, I can't resist mentioning what I consider the finest novel to date based on the Collier Brothers - Marcia Davenport's "My Brother's Keeper." Ms. Davenport sucks you into the world and minds of the brothers. You follow each decision and each seems acceptable at that moment. Only at the last do you realize that you have been as strange as they. The shock of returning to a world of normality reveals how easily anyone can slide into - well, weirdness.
