This Weekend: Celebrate Halloween Without Going Door to Door

By Rick Ganley on Friday, October 30, 2009.

Some events this weekend are a real treat. Amy Diaz and Rick Ganley have some ideas for celebrating Halloween.

Concord's Halloween Howl starts at 5 pm on Main Street, including music, downtown trick-or-treating and wagon rides.

Portsmouth has a downtown Halloween parade Saturday at 7 pm - they describe it as a "PG parade," so perhaps not for the youngest kids but a fun way to see wild costumes and ghouls and goblins. According to the guidelines, pitchforks are welcome, but please, no live snakes.

Bridge Cafe in Manchester is having a Halloween "slam free or die" open mic night - which means some of the participants will be dead authors. The "intellectual macabre" starts at 6 pm.

Chester College is offering a live production of Night of the Living Dead - assuming, of course, that "live" is the right word to use for a zombie story.
