Modern Housewifery (REBROADCAST)
By Laura Knoy on Tuesday, December 28, 2004.
The role of the housewife has changed considerably since the days of Erma Bombeck, ironing curtains, and making the perfect upside-down cake. The modern-day housewife (or at-home mother) hires a housekeeper, home schools and organizes child play groups. We're reconsidering the idea of housewifery. Laura's guest is Caitlin Flanagan, contributing editor of the Atlantic Monthly and author of a forthcoming book about modern motherhood.
