Harvest

Autumn is harvest time. That means Iowa corn and soybeans; fruit dried in the California sun; greens, beans, and potatoes; slaughtered hogs and beef trucked to market. It also means Thanksgiving turkeys. Harvest follows the families to the grain elevator, the farmers markets and, in a welcome break from work, the State Fair. It's the time of summing up after the long growing season --- the time to decide whether the gamble of early spring planting season has paid off.  Listener information is available at www.fivefarms.org

Fresh Greens: Teens and the Environment

What does it mean to be green? That's what we asked fellow teens from around the country. Their responses surprised us.

From Anchorage, Alaska to Portland, Maine, teens see green as more than remembering to recycle. Green, they told us, is not about the color of their skin, or how much they donate to Greenpeace. It's about listening to immigrants' experiences, to environmental leaders and to that voice inside. And it's about believing that one person can make a difference, and then spreading the word.

    StoryCorps in New Hampshire

Interviews at the StoryCorps Mobile Booth begin with a question, but the exciting part is the answer. Because, whether it’s from someone we know and love, or from someone we’ve just met, the answer tells us something we didn’t know.

NHPR brought the Mobile Booth to Concord in summer 2007 and to Berlin in summer 2009.
