Autopsies completed Wednesday confirmed the identities and cause of death of the couple found dead at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Tuesday morning.

The Attorney General's office believes Mark Lavoie, 50, shot and killed his wife, Katherine Lavoie, 49, then commit suicide with a single gunshot wound to his head.

Mark Lavoie posted a Facebook message minutes before the shooting. In the message, Lavoie implies his wife had attempted suicide while grappling with bipolar disorder. Lavoie called 911, and his wife was put on life support.  Lavoie writes that he brought her living will to the hospital, but was told "her wishes didn't apply because depression isn't a non-reversible state." He went on to write "I am more than happy to sacrifice my life... and join her spirit in a happier place."

A relative told the Associated Press that Lavoie killed his wife "because he loved her."

The police investigation is ongoing.
