Concord attorney and Democratic activist AndruVolinsky is running for the Executive Council.
Volinsky announced his bid Tuesday on Twitter.
Volinsky will seek to fill the District 2 seat currently filled by Democrat Colin Van Ostern, who's running for governor.
Volinsky has never held public office, but was the lead council in the Claremont education lawsuits.
He's currently representing the city of Dover in another lawsuit challenging the state's education funding formula.
Volinsky told the Concord Monitor he expects that case to wrap up before he would take office, if elected to the five-member council, but adds that loyalty to his clients comes before any political ambitions.
