As summer winds down, NHPR gives thanks to our listeners, online readers and supporters who took the time to express their appreciation for public media through their words or actions.
Before Congress left for its summer recess, the full House Appropriations Committee passed its FY 2018 spending bill. NHPR is extremely grateful the bill included full funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. However, the bill did not include funding for Interconnection – an infrastructure system that allows us to distribute live NPR programs and important public safety communications.
Debate is expected to resume around public media funding in September, when lawmakers return to Capitol Hill. We will be keeping a close eye on developments, and we urge you to continue your interest and support.
