The Documentary That Helped Convict Rios Montt

Jorge Dan Lopez/Reuters /Landov

Last year we interviewed Pamela Yatesabout her documentary Granito: How to Nail A Dictator which details the indictment of General Efrain Rios Montt, believed to be responsible for the murder of 200,000 mostly indigenous Mayan Ixil people during the Guatemalan genocide.

On May 10th, 2013, Rios Montt was found guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity, the first head of state to be convicted of genocide by a court in his or her own country. In light of recent events we’ve decided to re-air our interview with Pamela and share a link to PBS, who is making Granito available for free online viewing from the POV website until May 24th.
