EBT Friendly Farmer's Markets

At New Hampshire’s eighty or so farmer’s markets, you can choose from organic produce, local honey and freshly baked breads. These are foods that are often out of reach for those on government food assistance, limited by a set budget and where they can shop, as only select retailers accept electronic benefit transfer cards.  As part of our continuing series, shifting the balance, NHPR’s Todd Bookman reports on a new initiative designed to entice low income customers to shop at farmer’s markets…by increasing their purchasing power.
