Friend of Mine: A Bill Morissey Tribute Concert

FolkAlley.com

This one-hour special hosted by World Cafe's David Dye celebrates the life of beloved New Hampshire-based singer-songwriter and author Bill Morrissey, who passed away suddenly in July 2011 of heart disease.
Through his long career Bill wrote eloquently of the small towns of New England and the characters who lived there.  On an appropriately rainy November 17th night, nearly 2 dozen of his friends gathered at the sold-out Somerville Theater outside Boston to sing sad songs and tell funny stories.
We’ll hear the best of that evening from the likes of Patty Larkin, Shawn Colvin, John Gorka and longtime Morrissey friend and member of the New York Dolls David Johansen. The younger generation of performers was represented by Anais Mitchell and Mark Erelli who also accompanied others on guitar and mandolin.
