First congressional district candidates Frank Guinta and Carol Shea-Porter met Tuesday night on NH1’s TV debate. Both candidates took aim at the other’s voting record in Washington.

These candidates know each other well. This is the third time they’ve run against each other. And this debate often focused on refighting old battles.
Democrat Carol Shea-Porter was quick to blame Guinta and Republicans for the mandatory budget cuts known as sequestration.
“Frank is a Tea-Partier and all the other Tea-Partiers that arrived in 2010 that forced this deal on—and if he didn’t like the sequester, he didn’t have to continue that budget slashing by supporting the Ryan budget.”
Guinta, meanwhile, went after Shea-Porter for support of so-called Obamacare.
“Well, I think it’s clear that the state of New Hampshire does not support Carol Shea-Porter’s notion that Obamacare is working.”
The two agreed Congress should’ve been taken a vote prior to U.S. airstrikes against ISIS. They both criticized the early response against Ebola and endorsed a travel ban.
