Senator Maggie Hassan says she's still working toward bipartisanship, even as the Senate GOP tax reform bill gets closer to a vote.
She says much of the process has been happening behind closed doors. But she and other Democrats have been reaching out to Republicans and advocating for a return to regular order and hearings on the floor.
"You know, frankly, we think if we had a true bipartisan process that involved hearings and bringing in experts so we could understand the way various ideas would affect real people and small businesses, then we could in fact develop a bipartisan tax reform plan and there are many of us who think there might be 60 or 70 votes for that," she says.
Hassan says she hears bipartisan support for meaningful tax reform.
