Health And Human Services Commissioner To Be Formally Sworn In

Casey McDermott, NHPR

Governor Maggie Hassan will formally swear in Jeffrey Meyers as New Hampshire's Commissioner of Health and Human Services today at the statehouse.

The Executive Council voted last week to confirm Meyers for a four year term.

The new commissioner has been urging lawmakers to extend Medicaid expansion beyond the end of 2016.

Republican lawmakers have proposed a two year extension under which hospitals and insurers would help cover the state’s share of costs.

Before serving as commissioner Meyers helped implement the state's Medicaid expansion as the department's Intergovernmental Affairs director.
