A recent report shows that the overall population is down, but the problem persists and has even increased among certain groups including veterans.  Now, with diverse efforts across the state to help the homeless, there is active discussion, and some disagreement, within communities about the best approach.

GUESTS:

  • Jeremy Blackman – staff reporter at the Concord Monitor. He was a lead reporter on their recent series, 'Seeking Shelter: Homeless in Concord.'
  • Keith Howard – executive director of Liberty House, a transitional housing facility for veterans in Manchester. Howard himself is a formerly homeless veteran.
  • Cathy Kuhn - director of the New Hampshire Coalition to End Homelessness and Director of Research and Training at Families in Transition, a homeless service provider.

LINKS:

  • Read the N.H. Coalition to End Homelessness' 2014 report here.
  • Liberty House produces a podcast of interviews with its current and former residents, and staff called 'Beyond Spare Change.' Listen to that here.
