The New Hampshire House Finance Committee on Wednesday will take up a bill seeking to continue the state’s expanded Medicaid program for another two years.
The measure overwhelming passed the full House last week, but some lawmakers still question the potential financial cost to the state.
According to the bill’s sponsor, the entire cost of continuing the program will be picked up by the state’s insurance premium tax, with the rest falling to hospitals and insurance companies.
Another issue that will likely come up at the public hearing is the proposal to require 30 hours of work or community service for those participating in the program. There’s also a proposal to charge a fee for those who go to the ER for a non-emergency related issue.
