CLAREMONT - A Democratic lawmaker from New Hampshire says a new bill would increase trade and travel between the U.S. and Canada.

The Eagle Times reports that U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster, along with officials from the city of Claremont and Amtrak, on Wednesday announced the Promoting Travel, Commerce and National Security Act of 2016.

The bill was introduced into in Congress on March 1. The same bill was also introduced by Vermont U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy in the Senate.

Travelers would be able to pass through immigrations, customs and agricultural inspections before traveling between the two countries.

The bill seeks to expand preclearance operations, adding locations for air, land and marine transit, and create preclearance facilities for rail transit.

Kuster says 10,000 inadmissible travelers were intercepted at preclearance facilities in 2014.
