The company, The Wellness Connection, operates four facilities in Maine.
While medical marijuana is legal in New Hampshire, the federal government still prohibits it use.
“Once he realized it was within a drug-free zone and there is still controversy here between different levels of government he decided not to go there," Milton Bratz, the chairman of the select board, said.
An official with the company, G. William Eldridge, couldn’t be reached for comment.
