Man Gunned Down Near Gorham Town Common, Arrest Made

Null Value

The New Hampshire attorney general's office says they've made an arrest after a man was gunned down on the sidewalk in front of the town common in Gorham, right near the police station.

Police inside the station heard the shots Monday night and ran to find 27-year-old Michael Welch suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Welch later died.

They caught up with a man leaving the scene identified as 25-year-old Christopher Drouin of Gorham. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and with attempted murder for shooting at another man with Welch, 30-year-old John Gillespie.

Drouin was expected to be arraigned later Tuesday afternoon at circuit court in Berlin. A number listed for a Christopher Drouin in Gorham wasn't working. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
