Manufacturers File Suit Against State For New Auto Dealer Protection Law
The equipment manufacturer John Deere & Company filed a lawsuit this week with two other equipment manufacturers, challenging a New Hampshire law set to go into effect September 1st. The law, known here as the "Auto Dealers' Bill of Rights," limits the control manufactures can assert on New Hampshire auto and equipment dealers. Ken Golden, Director of Public Relations at John Deere, says the law jeopardizes Deere's ability to do business in New Hampshire, and may be unconstitutional by both state and federal law. The Auto Dealers Bill of Rights passed both chambers by wide margins, and was signed into law by Governor Hassan in late June.
