Former Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand has announced he is again running for governor. The announcement comes more than a year and a half ahead of Election Day.
In an email sent to supporters on Monday, Marchand said he’s running for governor to “make New Hampshire the best state to start a family and start a business.”
Marchand also criticized Governor Chris Sununu over his positions on education, election laws, and LGBTQ rights.
Marchand served as mayor of Portsmouth from 2006-2007 and has worked in a variety of government consulting and auditing positions.
He ran for governor last year, losing to Colin Van Ostern in the Democratic primary.
Primary elections for the 2018 gubernatorial election won’t be held until next fall.
