One person was killed and three others were injured Saturday in separate snowmobile crashes, according to Fish and Game.
It is the second death in two weeks.
The fatality occurred in Stark, where Paul Fortin, 51, of Groveton was pronounced dead at the scene, said Conservation Officer Glen Lucas.
Lucas said a snowmobile rider knocked on the door of a house in Stark about 6:30, said a man had been injured, and help should be sent “just up the road.”
“The snowmobiler then left without identifying him or herself or giving any direction to the scene other than up the road,” Lucas said.
Lucas said it took about an hour to find Fortin’s body, which was on Corridor 5, and nobody else was there. He asked anybody who was with Fortin or saw him earlier in the day call him at 846-3333.
The other three crashes occurred earlier in the day in Pittsburg, Lucas said.
Forty-five-year-old Richard Wheeler of Madison sustained what were described as serious injuries in a midnight crash and was taken by helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Thirty year-old Bakr Ragragui, of East Boston, Massachusetts lost control of a rented snowmobile
Fourteen year-old Luke Wininger of Berlin failed to make a turn.
Both were taken the Upper Connecticut Valley Regional Hospital. The extent of their injuries was not available.
