The Manchester Monarchs are two wins away from the team’s first Calder Cup championship.
An overtime goal Sunday gave the Manchester Monarchs a 2-1 victory in Game 2, and a commanding 2-0 lead in the series against the Utica Comets.
The Monarchs took Game 1 in overtime, as well.
“Well, we are up two, but again this game was decided in overtime,” Head Coach Mike Stothers said. “It is not going to be easy for either team and I thought they played much better than they did yesterday. I knew they were a good team. We’re going into Utica and we are going to have to stay together as a collective group.”
Nic Dowd scored the game-winning goal in Game 2, his fifth goal of the playoffs.
The series now heads to Utica, where the two teams face off for Game 3 Wednesday night.
