Oyster River School District to Host Diversity Forum

Parents, teachers, and school administrators will gather in Durham tonight for a forum on diversity.

The event is being organized by the Oyster River School District.  It's in response to a pair of alleged racist bullying incidents from early in September.

The district includes the towns of Durham, Lee, and Madbury.

The forum will feature talks from several parents and at least one UNH student. Andrew Smith, the state’s Disproportionate Minority Contact Coordinator, will moderate the event.

School officials say they want to engage the community in a meaningful conversation about racism and other forms discrimination.

The event starts with a community meal at 5 p.m. at Oyster River High School.
