Rethink 2014: Catholicism

Last March, the election of Pope Francis was announced with a billow of white smoke. Nine months later, the media remain in a papal haze.  Time Magazine named Pope Francis its person of the year. Francis also topped Esquire's list of 2013's best-dressed men, and Buzzfeed jumped on the papal bandwagon with its list of "The 19 Best Pope Francis Moments of 2013". Between ditching the Popemobile, and his  frugal approach to  papal garb, it's easy to see why visits to the Vatican  have tripled since Francis became the pontiff, but do the declarations of a seemingly reformist Pope signal a new era for the Catholic church? Father James Martin, editor-at-large of the Jesuit magazine, America, and author of The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything, joins us for Rethink 2014.
