Riverbend Community Mental Health

Riverbend Community Mental Health helped Brian Ross get the proper medication to treat his mental illness, and helped him to get back to work.

Brian: Back in 2006, I was homeless and I was hallucinating I was hearing voices. I wasn’t in touch with reality. I was brought into the stare hospital, and I had been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. We got into a medication regime and they actually released me in November 2006. They were able to set me up with a rooming house so I wouldn’t be homeless. And that was when I first started receiving services from Riverbend.

It’s been four and a half years now that I’ve been with Riverbend; and we found the right medication. Riverbend also helped me get set up with social security so that I actually have some income while I was disabled. They also helped me find work. And I’m glad to say that I’m off social security now, I’m making my own money. And I’m not hearing voices at work because of the medication they put me on.

I’m living proof people have problems. And it’s possible, with the right treatment, to overcome your difficulties and Riverbend is that resource. They certainly helped me overcome my difficulties and achieve all the goals that I’ve achieved and everything been going really well for me.
